Reiki

Reiki symbol imageReiki is a Japanese word that means Universal Life Force. It is the energy all around us, literally the life force of the universe.  It is God, Creator, Christ, Universe, Spirit, Mohammed, Buddha, whatever it is you have a belief in, this is Reiki.  Reiki works on all levels that we are aware of and probably those we have no knowledge of.  Reiki accelerates the body’s ability to heal.  It identifies physical problems and opens the mind to the cause of disease and pain, assisting the healing process.

What can I expect during a Reiki session?

When a Reiki practitioner places her hands on a recipient, the affected area soaks up the energy flowing from the practitioner’s hands.  Universal Life Force energy is within all things.  We find ourselves “out of balance” because of a depletion of this energy due to illness, stress and/or spiritual emptiness.  Reiki recharges the body and breaks through whatever blockage we are experiencing. It recharges, aligns and harmonizes our body.

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through you and surrounds you.  The recipient lies on a massage table, fully clothed and is made comfortable with a pillow and blanket as needed.  Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit and creates many beneficial effects including relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being.  Many have reported miraculous results. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of self-improvement that everyone can use.

Health care professionals have found that Reiki reduces stress, frustration, fatigue, and serves a role in preventative health care and chronic pain management. Reiki is useful for relaxation that allows everyone to tap into the unlimited supply of “life force energy” to improve health and enhance the quality of your life. Many hospital settings and cancer centers recommend Reiki as a complementary treatment when patients are undergoing surgery or treatment.  There is anecdotal evidence and research to support its effectiveness with pain management and stress reduction.
